Laurel Bergman is a Syntax associate and principal of Laurel Bergman
Consulting. Ms. Bergman's consulting practice emphasizes communication
skills in team development, training programs, and coaching for
organizations and individuals. Her work draws on 25 years of experience
in both the corporate and government sectors and includes clients
such as Raychem Corporation, Applied Materials, Larscom Corporation,
the County of San Mateo and the County of Tulare.
Ms. Bergman develops teamwork in organizations
by opening communication pathways and building competency on executive
and staff levels. Her recent work includes delivery of "The
Syntax of Excellent Member Service," a communication skills
workshop for managers and staff in the credit union industry.
She has also presented seminars such as "Giving and Receiving
Feedback," and "How to Build Rapport," and the
business writing workshop, "Writing for Results," for
professional audiences. She currently serves as adjunct faculty
for John F. Kennedy University, instructing in management communication
in the graduate School of Management.
Ms. Bergman serves as a senior editor of Vision/Action,
professional journal of the Bay Area Organization Development
Network. Her article, "Beneath the Glass Ceiling," appeared
in 1993, followed by several interviews with key contributors
to the field. The BAODN honored her exceptional work in 1994.
She holds an MS degree in Human Resources and
Organization Development from the University of San Francisco,
and a bachelor's degree in English from the University of California
at Berkeley.
